IAB condemns the attack on a journalist in Mexico and demands an immediate investigation
The International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) strongly condemns the attack on Mexican journalist Marcos Ramos, which took place in Cintalapa, Chiapas, while he was carrying out his journalistic duties.
The IAB expresses its deep concern over this latest act of violence against a journalist, reiterating that any such attack constitutes a serious violation of freedom of expression and the right of society to receive information.
The IAB urges the relevant Mexican authorities to conduct an immediate, thorough and independent investigation into the incident, to establish the facts, identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice, and to guarantee the protection of journalists and the media.
The IAB expresses its solidarity with journalist Marcos Ramos, his family and his colleagues, and reaffirms its commitment to defending freedom of expression and the freedom of the press in the Americas.
