IAB expresses concern over death threats against journalist Roberto Montalvo in Veracruz, Mexico

The International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) expresses its deep concern regarding the death threats received by journalist Roberto Montalvo Hipólito, a reporter carrying out his journalistic work in the municipality of Acayucan, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

According to publicly available information reported by media outlets, the journalist denounced having received intimidating messages and audio recordings on his mobile phone, in which he is directly threatened because of his journalistic activities.

IAB urges the competent authorities to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the journalist’s safety and the full exercise of journalistic activity.
