IAB expresses concern over threats against journalist in the Urabá region of Colombia

The International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) expresses its profound concern regarding the threats reported by journalist Yeison Rojas, correspondent for Teleantioquia in the Urabá region of Colombia. Mr. Rojas reportedly received a warning to leave the territory within 24 hours as a direct consequence of his informative work.

IAB recalls that threats and pressure against journalists constitute a grave violation of freedom of expression. Such actions create an intimidating effect that affects not only media professionals but also the right of society to receive free and pluralistic information.

IAB urges the competent authorities in Colombia to promptly investigate these events, identify those responsible, and adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the journalist's safety and the full exercise of information activities.

IAB reaffirms its solidarity with Colombian journalists and reiterates its permanent commitment to the defense of freedom of expression and freedom of the press throughout the Americas.
