IAB condemns attack against journalist in Colombia
The International Association of Broadcasters (IAB) strongly condemns and rejects the assassination attempt perpetrated on Saturday, July 5, against journalist Gustavo Chica, director of Guaviare Estéreo radio station, and his wife, while they were at their home in San José del Guaviare, Colombia.
This violent attack poses a serious threat to freedom of expression and press, which are fundamental pillars for the functioning of any democracy.
IAB extends its solidarity and support to the journalist and his family and urges the Colombian authorities to guarantee and ensure the necessary conditions for the full exercise of journalism.
