IAB condemns the murder of a journalist in Colombia
The International Association of Broadcasters (IAB), which represents more than 17,000 radio and television stations in the Americas, strongly condemns the murder of journalist Óscar Gómez Agudelo, which occurred on January 24th in the city of Armenia, in the
department of Quindío, Colombia.
The safety of journalists is crucial for communities to have access to information essential to their daily lives and for the defense of Freedom of Expression and Human Rights.
IAB stands in solidarity with the family and co-workers of journalist Óscar Gómez Agudelo and urges the Colombian authorities and public institutions to take urgent measures and carry out a thorough investigation to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators of this
criminal act.
